Banks, Oregon- After a week off, Sunset Speedway Park is set for one of its busiest dates on the calendar. The Spring Challenge has two nights of racing on the schedule featuring IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, Street Stocks, Dwarf Cars, 4-Bees, and both classes of Micro Sprints on both Saturday, May 25th, and Sunday, the 26th. Two-day wristbands will be offered for $20.00 (for Adult General Admission only and you must keep your band on for Sunday entry) but can only be purchased on SATURDAY for the discounted price. On Sunday the Military admission is only $5.00 for all present (with proper identification) and past members.
With so much going on the Pit Gates will be opening an hour earlier than usual both days. Pit Gates open at 1:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, Pit Meeting at 4:00, with Racing kicking off at 6:00. Tickets for both nights are $13.00 for Adults and Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00. A Family Pass (Two Adults and up to four Youths) is offered for $35.00 while Premium Seats are available for $25.00 each. For more information log on to www.sunsetspeedwaypark.com.
As has been mentioned the previous week the IMCA Sport Mods will be racing for an enhanced purse at both races. T&T Plumbing and Drains, Fieken Plumbing, and Schram Brothers Excavating have added an additional $1700.00 to the purse. Saturday’s winner will collect a $500.00 check while Sunday night the victor scores a whopping $950.00. But wait, it doesn’t stop there as second and third place on Sunday will fight for $300.00 and $275.00 respectively. Drivers will earn at least $75.00 to start each main.
Brad Ruth and Rod Lowe have been the only two winners in as many races in the IMCA Sport Mods so far this year. In the IMCA Modifieds Greg Walters has won the last two shows while Jeremy Martin got the job done in the first outing of the new campaign. Arnie Case and Craig Loomis have split the two Street Stock shows while Jake Van Ortwick has the only triumph in the Dwarf Cars so far. The 4-Bees have had three different winners in as many races including Jeremy Hughes, Captain Turnabout, and Ryan Conroy. Josh Thompson won the first Micro Open feature while Braden Maltais got the job done in the Restricteds.
