Racing, Fireworks, And Fun At SSP On Independence Day: Firecracker 50 For IMCA Modifieds

Banks, Oregon- Sunset Speedway Park returns to racing on Independence Day, Wednesday, July 4th, for the Modified Firecracker 50 with fireworks afterwards presented by the City of Banks and SSP. IMCA Modifieds, Super Late Models, Street Stocks, and 4-Bee’s will also be racing on the card. Come celebrate our nation’s independence with some awesome racing that will leave wanting more.
The IMCA Modifieds will headline the evening as they will race for fifty laps around the “Banks Bullring”. Collen Winebarger won the event last year and already has one win in 2018 at the ¼-mile clay oval. Greg Walters leads the division with most victories, with two, while Jesse Williamson, Jimmy Schram, Aaron Elwess, and aforementioned Winebarger have one each.
Willie Sutton, Jason Johnson, and Britton Donahoo are the three winners in as many races in the Super Late Model ranks. Arnie Case has seven Street Stock victories this season, including last Saturday’s Bobby Morley Memorial, and Donald Schott has parked it in victory lane once. Ryan Conroy is atop the winner’s chart in the 4-Bee ranks with his impressive six victories. William Wolfe, Travis Koch, Austin Henderson, and Captain Turnabout have one win each to their credit.
Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, Time Trials begin at 5:30, with Racing kicking off at 6:30. Tickets are $16.00 for Adults and Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $13.00.
