Sunset Speedway Park Hosts August 12th Drivers Appreciation Night

Banks, Oregon- Sunset Speedway Park will have all hands on deck this Saturday, August 12th, as it hosts the Drivers Appreciation Night. A full pit area and a large crowd is expected to be on hand for this ultra popular event. Classes in action include the Budweiser IMCA Modifieds, Bridgeport Logistics Street Stocks, IMCA Sport Mods, Pure Stocks, 4-Bee's, Dwarf Cars, New Bees, and both classes of Micro Sprints. With so many divisions racing there will be qualifying and main events only.
Kenny Miller isn't just the most recent winner in the Budweiser IMCA Modifieds but he is also the most winningest driver in the class. Miller is the only driver to have won twice this season. The long list of single race victors includes Craig Cassell, Jesse Williamson, John Campos, Aaron Elwess, Bubba Foster, Collen Winebarger, and Clark Tenney.
The only multi-feature winner in the IMCA Sport Mods is John Henry. Henry has visited victory lane a total of four times in 2017. Single race winners include Jayson Nelson, Brian Cooper, Rick Graham, and Mike Medel.
There has only been one repeat winner in the Bridgeport Logistics Street Stocks. Arnie Case has managed to visit the winner's circle twice in the current campaign. Joey Tardio, Tony Catalano, Chris West, Kyle Yeack, Joey Tanner, and Brad Gentry are drivers that have managed to win once. Jack Parshall and Rod Lowe were winners too in non-point competition in July.
Larry Brookshire has topped the competition in the Pure Stocks four time thus far. Tanner Krohling has two wins to his credit while one time victors include Danny O'Neil and Rob Ferree.
In the 4-Bees John Gartner and T.J. Wegner are tied for the most wins with two apiece. Ryan Conroy, Bob Berg, Travis Koch, and Corey Watts are single race winners.
Ryan Martinez has dominated the Dwarf Car ranks so far this season. Martinez has accumulated four wins over the competition. Jimmy Brinster, Jake Van Ortwick, Shane Youngren, and Barry King are credited with just one win.
In the New Bees Kaylee Batalgia is the only driver that has won twice so far. Taylor Sayre, Bailey Jackson, and Travis Zimmerman have all won once.
The 600cc Restricted Micro Sprints have witnessed Braden Maltais best the field three times in 2017. Lane Taylor, Dakota Drake, and Colby Thornhill all have one win. In the 600cc Open Micros Jeff Little has won twice over single race victors Derek Torkelson, Colby Thornhill, Casey Starr, and Chance Crum.
Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, Time Trials begin at 5:30, with Racing kicking off at 6:30. Tickets are $13.00 for Adults and Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00.
