Brinster, Brookshire, Starr, And Maltais June 24th SSP Winners

Banks, Oregon- Sunset Speedway Park returned for racing action on Saturday, June 24th. Despite the warm temperatures the fans were treated to some exciting entertainment. Classes in competition include the Dwarf Cars, Pure Stocks, IMCA Sport Mods, and both divisions of Micro Sprints.
In the Dwarf Cars it would be healthy car count on tap as both the Northwest Dwarf and Pacific Hardtop Racing Association were both in attendance. Jimmy Brinster would best the field to accumulate his first win of the 2017 season at SSP. Tigard’s Shane Youngren crossed the wire second followed by Jake Van Ortwick, out of Scappoose, in third. The rest of the top five would consist of Molalla veteran Henry Corbin III, in fourth, and fifth finishing Andy Lemmons. Dennis Liebig would be the driver to win the consolation feature.
When it came to the Pure Stocks, Larry Brookshire once again emerged victorious. It marks the third occasion he has collected the winner’s check in victory lane. Vancouver, Washington’s Danny O’Neil Jr. got second over Tanner Krohling in third. Rob Ferree, also out of Vancouver, Washington, was fourth while Forest Grove driver Kendall Lee got fifth.
John Henry kept his winning streak alive in the IMCA Sport Mod division. Henry, from Hillsboro, made it three main events wins in a row. Scott Ruth was second and Rick Graham third.
In the Micro Sprints two new faces would grace the winner’s circle. In the 600cc Open Newberg’s Casey Starr would park it on the front stretch. Jeff Broadwell, of Springfield, was the runner-up and with Deming, Washington driver Jeff Little in third. Fourth went to Paul Cegnic and Allen Lindquist got fifth. In the 600cc Restricted Braden Maltais received the win. Blaine Granberg and Becca Clark finished second and third respectively. Grace Osborne was fourth while Macie Logsdon managed to finish fifth.
Sunset Speedway Park will be hosting the Wild West Modified Shootout on Wednesday, June 28th. The track will be back to action on Saturday, July 1st with the Monster Truck Mania as well as Sunday afternoon.
The Budweiser IMCA Modifieds will headline the Wednesday night show with IMCA Sport Mods as the support class. During the Monster Truck shows the Bridgeport Logistics Street Stocks will be in the house as the support division.
For Wednesday Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, Time Trials begin at 5:30, with Racing kicking off at 6:30. Tickets are $13.00 for Adults and Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00. A Family Pass (Two Adults and up to four Youths) is offered for $35.00 while Premium Seats are available for $25.00 each.
Tickets for the Monster Truck shows are $17.00 for Adults, $13.00 for Senior/Military/Youths, 5 or under FREE, and a Family Pass (2 Adults and up to 4 Youth) $60.00. Saturday night gates open around 4:00 PM and action will begin at 6:30 PM while Sunday gates open at Noon and everything kicks off around 2:00. SUNDAY WILL BE OFFERING A SPECIAL TWO FOR $20.00 WHICH MEANS TWO ADULTS GET IN FOR JUST $20.00! Premium Seating is also available for $35.00 each.
