After 3 long weeks without racing and busting to get a motor together we couldn't have asked for a better weekend. We started off the night getting quick time which set us up to start 4th in the heat and trophy dash. In the heat race we drove our way to a win. In the trophy dash we ended up with a 2nd place finish. There was a 6 car invert for the main event and because we were high point car we got the short end of the stick started 6th. Battling through traffic we were up to third when the caution came out. We got a great run on the restart and slid into 2nd when the caution flew again. Knowing we had good pull off the corner we chose the bottom on the restart. That backfired as we lost second but not for long as we reeled them back in and got back to the second position. Laps were winding down and it looked like a slim chance that we would catch up to the leader. A miracle came about when we came up on lapped traffic with 2 laps to go. We passed the line taking the white flag and headed into turn 1. With a Hail Mary slider we made it stick and passed the leader coming out of turn 2. Going down the back stretch, into turns 3 and 4 and taking the checkered was a feeing like none other. All of our hard work had paid off and we finally had the results we'd been looking for.
None of this would have been possible without our amazing sponsors and supporters: Ron Obsorne at Oregon Outlaw Speed Shop, Mark Herz at Herz Precision Parts, Ron and Sommer Starr (aka mom and dad) at RS Race Products, Kevin Roberts at Big Sky Landscaping, Todd Miller at Linn Benton Insurance, Glenn Borden at Bordens Auto Parts, and Mark Walbridge and special thanks for Steve Hamblin for keeping us with a good motor. And thank you to Scotty Fox for always supporting us and helping us whenever you can.
A lot of work was put into our racing program the last few weeks and I cannot thank my dad enough for working his butt off to get us ready for this weekend. And thank you to my mom for always supporting me and having my back. I love you guys.
Also a huge congrats to Braden Maltais for winning in the restricted class. It's fun racing and hanging out with you guys and I can't wait for the next one!
