Banks, Oregon- It’s back and will be bigger than ever. Sunset Speedway Park’s sensationally popular Fan Appreciation Night, this year presented by Rockstar, is this Saturday June 25th. A super full card of racing is on tap including the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series (including Super Late Models), Budweiser IMCA Modifieds, Bridgeport Logistic Street Stocks, IMCA Sport Mods, Pure Stocks, Dwarf Cars, and 4-Bee’s.
As always once opening ceremonies have concluded the crowd is invited to the race track where they can get up close and personal with the drivers. Due to the Fan Appreciation ceremony there will only be Hot Laps, Qualifications, and Main Events in the racing portion of the program.
The Northwest Extreme Late Model Series has visited SSP four times this year. In those four trips there have been four separate winners. Joey Tanner, Jerry Schram, Jason Johnson, and Collen Winebarger have all graced victory lane in 2016.
The Budweiser IMCA Modifieds have also seen quite a few different winners this year too. Defending champion Craig Cassell is the only multi-feature victor, with two, while Collen Winebarger, Kyle Yeack, and most recently the Wild West Modified Shootout champion Kellen Chadwick.
Arnie Case is on a hot streak in the Bridgeport Logistics Street Stocks. Case has won the last two straight features bringing his grand total wins at the Banks Bullring to three. Benny Sauter, Travis Koch, Chris West, and Roger Hubbard have all managed to win once this year.
With his triumph last Saturday John Henry became the only multi-main event winner in the IMCA Sport Mods. He leads with the most wins, with two, while Michael Melton and Chris Frisbie each have a single trip to the winner’s circle.
Trevor LaBarge has been the man to beat in the Pure Stocks. LaBarge has three victories in the current campaign and the only driver to have bested him yet was Joey Tardio. Tardio has one win.
Shane Youngren has won two of the three Dwarf Car races this season. Youngren will look for his third triumph against yet another stacked field. Martin Holmason is the only other winner.
Finally, in the 4-Bee’s there have been four different winners in four races. “Maverick” Cody Jones, Damion Owen, Tylor Owen, and William Wolfe have all best the field. Will that pattern continue after Saturday night?
