After a few weeks off Sunset Speedway Park hosted their first race since August 22nd on Saturday September 12th. The “Banks Bullring” was back for the Budweiser Modified Mayhem 100 for the Budweiser IMCA Modifieds. Other classes on the card included the IMCA Sport Mods, Street Stocks, and both classes of Micro Sprints.
The Budweiser Modified Mayhem 100 would be a one-hundred lap affair with the winner receiving $750.00. Obtaining the lead on lap thirty-seven Lebanon's Kyle Yeack would be the car to beat during the Budweiser IMCA Modified feature. Yeack, driving the Lester and Jody Free owned Quest Dental/Brad's Car Tunes/Lester & Jody's Go Fast Motorsports #30 Shaw, would stay out in front the rest of the way to collect his fifteenth win of 2015. It was the second occasion he graced victory lane at SSP this year. The other time was the Jim's Thriftway 100 Street Stock event.
The Perfection Automotive/21st Century Towing/Meyers Auto Body/Freeman Tile #18X entry of Mike Graham, from Portland, was mighty fast in the IMCA Sport Mod main. Graham would be the leader the entire race and would win his first main event of the season, at Banks, in only his first start.
Another driver visiting the winner's circle for the first time this year was in the Street Stocks. Sherwood's Marc Farrar got to the front on lap six and didn't look back. It was Farrar's only win so far this year in the Aftermarket Enterprises/AFT Performance Engines #5 Camaro.
Deming, Washington driver Jeff Little would be the winner of the 600cc Micro Open main event. Little, piloting the D&D Custom Service/Mobile Hardware #86 PMP, took the coveted top spot on lap two and would not give it up. It was Little's first win of the year.
Mike Thompson was the victor of the 600cc Restricted Micro race. Thompson obtained the lead on lap three and kept his Thompson Racing #41R entry in front of the competition. It was also Thompson's first victory.
Sunset Speedway Park is next in action for Championship Night presented by 98.7 The Bull. This will be the final race of the 2015 season. Classes that will be in competition include the Budweiser IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, Dwarf Cars, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, and 4-Bees.
