Banks, Oregon- The tradition goes as far back as the late 1990's. The Jim's Thriftway 100 is one of the biggest, not the biggest, Street Stock races on dirt in the Pacific Northwest. This year Sunset Speedway Park will host the iconic event on Saturday July 11th. The 2015 edition will pay $1,000.00 to the winner.
“Jim’s Thriftway is excited about sponsoring the Jim’s 100 Race at Sunset Speedway on July 11th,” commented Mark Ward, Owner and Operator of Jim's Thriftway in downtown Banks, “Jim’s has sponsored this race ever since Sunset Speedway opened and we look forward to being a part of the races for many years to come”
Recent history of this race has Ron Jermann as the 2012 winner while in 2013 it would go to Craig Loomis. Last year Tony Catalano managed to claim victory for the second time in his career. The first time was back in 1999 when the race was created.
As far as rules go all cars must abide by their home track rules packages. So for example if you race at Sunset Speedway Park you fall under Sunset rules. This also goes for Street Stocks that race at either Willamette Speedway, Cottage Grove Speedway, River City Speedway, or Grays Harbor Raceway. You CANNOT mix and match with other rules packages.
Jim’s Thriftway is an independently owned and operated grocery store located in the city of Banks. A staple to the community and a supporter of the Sunset Speedway Park, Jim’s offers great food at low prices. Go online to www.jimsthriftway.com to view their weekly ad, look up helpful recipes, and more or visit them at their location at 660 South Main Street.
