Fan Appreciation Night Presented By Rockstar Energy Drink Next For Sunset Speedway Park
By Ben Deatherage
Banks, Oregon- Sunset Speedway Park will be the place to be this Saturday June 20th. The “Banks Bullring” will be hosting Fan Appreciation Night presented by Rockstar Energy Drink. What makes this event special is all of the cars in the pits will park on the track and after opening ceremonies fans will be allowed to go on to the racing surface and interact with their favorite drivers. It will be an extremely full card of racing with the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series, Budweiser IMCA Modifieds, Street Stock, Pure Stocks, IMCA Sport Mods, 4-Bee's, Northwest Dwarf Cars, and both classes of Micro Sprints to put on a exciting show for the fans on hand. Due to so many classes participating it will be main events only.
There will also be face painting for the kids and tons of giveaways for the crowd. Our good friends at Fast Time Racing Simulators will be in the house to give you the experience of what it is like to strap in and be behind the wheel of an actual Sprint Car.
The Northwest Extreme Late Model Series have visited SSP three times in 2015. In the three races there have been three different winners including Joey Tanner, Jason Johnson, and Dave Walters.
The Budweiser IMCA Modifieds have only had one repeat winner in the current campaign with Mark Carrell who has won twice. Single race winners include Jesse Williamson, Collen Winebarger, Jeff Lovell, Rob Ireland, Bubba Foster, and Doug Lockwood.
Brian Roden has won three times in the Street Stock ranks. Tony Catalano and Arnie Case have recorded two wins each while defending champion John Ireland has one win. In Pure Stocks both John Henry and Trevor LaBarge have each achieved three wins each. Single race winners include Adam Hopkes and Ken Schave.
Defending Northwest Dwarf Car champion Ryan Martinez is the only repeat winner in his class, with two. Shane Youngren, Chris McCleary, and Guy Tow Jr. have won once at Sunset while Kalvin Morton got a victory at Willamette in late May.
Chris Batalgia still has the most wins in the 4-Bee's. Batalgia has four wins while William Wolfe and Damion Owen have both managed to achieve two victories. Captain Turnabout is the only driver to have won once.
The Micro Open class has yet to see a repeat winner as Chance Crum, Derek Torkelson, Tanner Holm, and Jake Mann have made trips to the winner's circle. The same case can be made for the Micro Restricted division with Ashleigh Johnson, Colby Thornhill, Ben Silliker, and Jesse Schlotfeldt 2015 victors.
With Pamela Graham's victory last Saturday she is now tied with Jim Potter for most wins this year in the IMCA Sport Mods with two each. Michael Melton has won just once in the B Mods.
