Carder Returns Home For Wild West Modified Shootout
By Ben Deatherage
A familiar face returns to Oregon/Northern California for the 2015 Wild West Modified Shootout. Cale Carder, originally out of the Central Point area but now residing in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, has ventured back to his old stomping grounds and plans to make the whole entire speedweek. After an absence of six years from racing Cale decided to get back behind the wheel of a race car. Although it has been some time since he has driven a Modified he actually was one of the first drivers to have one back in 1992. He also drove for car owner Jim Governor off and on before becoming heavily involved in Sprint Cars.
Carder has participated in twelve races this season visiting several different race tracks such as Nevada's Pahrump Valley Speedway, Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Arizona, and what he considers his hometrack Mohave Valley Raceway which is also located in the Canyon State. Although no wins have came just yet he has managed to finish second at Pahrump a few weeks ago.
“We've pretty much achieved everything we set out to do,” said Carder, “we've won some heats and have gotten close to a win but just quite haven't been able to do it yet. We've got good responses from the car and it's really consistent to where we don't have to make a lot of adjustments.”
Cale Carder is a former Sprint Car champion at Siskiyou Motor Speedway in the late 1990's. He also won a title at Southern Oregon Speedway in the Limited Sprints. It will be a real treat for fans to see him race his J.D. Machine/The Office Cocktail Lounge/West Coast Inspections/Carder Performance & Marine/Wet Monkey Powersports #48 Kraft entry all week long.
“I've got a really limited pit crew but we're going to try and run the whole week,” he would continue, “I'd like to make the main event every night, that would be really nice.”
The 2015 Wild West Modified Shootout kicks off at Southern Oregon Speedway on Saturday June 13th. The tour will wrap things up at Willamette Speedway on the 19th and 20th to close the speedweek out for the second straight year. Teams from Oregon, Washington, California, North Dakota, Montana, and British Columbia Canada are expected to make the journey.
All races will be broadcasted through Speed Shift TV and you can either purchase each race for $19.95 or buy the whole week for $99.95. Orders can be made onhttp://www.speedshifttv.com.
