Although he will not make the entire 2015 Wild West Modified Shootout schedule Bricen James remains a threat to win at the handful of events he plans to attend. The Albany teenager has had quite a bit of success this season by winning his first Late Model race at Cottage Grove Speedway on May 30th, a Street Stock victory at Willamette Speedway, and he finished third at the prestigious National Speed Sport Challenge Kage Kart event at Millbridge Speedway in Salisbury, North Carolina. The current campaign is his first in a IMCA Modified and has posted a couple of top fives already.
“This year I've had some pretty good success,” said James, “I really learned a lot racing in California. But racing at home I think I've driven over my head a little and haven't got the finishes I need, but I think we are headed in the right direction.”
Bricen participated in the IMCA West Coast Nationals down in California in early January facing some very stiff competition at race tracks that were all new to him. Unfortunately he will only make the last four races of the Wild West Modified Shootout but keep an eye out for the James Gang Pizza/Lebanon Auto Body/Crocker's Cars/Linn-Benton Insurance #13 GRT. He will compete in his Late Model on Saturday June 13th at Willamette. The historic 1/3-mile clay oval is a place he has had a wealth of success especially last year where he was the Super Sport, Street Stock, and Open Kage champion.
“Sadly we won't be able to do the whole speedweek,” he would continue, “we are just going to make the races at Cottage Grove, Banks (Sunset Speedway ParK), and Willamette. But they are three tracks I'm really familiar with.”
The 2015 Wild West Modified Shootout kicks off at Southern Oregon Speedway on Saturday June 13th. The tour will wrap things up at Willamette Speedway on the 19th and 20th to close the speedweek out for the second straight year. Teams from Oregon, Washington, California, North Dakota, Montana, and British Columbia Canada are expected to make the journey.
All races will be broadcasted through Speed Shift TV and you can either purchase each race for $19.95 or buy the whole week for $99.95. Orders can be made onhttp://www.speedshifttv.com. Be sure and don't miss out on these great races featuring the best Modified drivers in the Pacific Northwest region.
