Banks, Oregon- Towing all the way down from northern Idaho, Bert Pegg hopes to get the big win at Sunset Speedway Park on Saturday June 6th. During this past off season Pegg relocated from Vancouver, Washington to Bayview, Idaho, approximately thirty minutes north of Coeur d'Alene, to be closer to family members. He has raced Sunset Speedway Park just once in 2015 while participating in a handful of events on the pavement at Stateline Speedway in Post Falls, Idaho.
“We went from running a car at Banks that was really good on dirt and switched it to pavement,” said Pegg, “it's a whole new ballgame with these skinny tires. I've gained a whole lot of respect for all those NASCAR racers even the ones running in the back.”
Bert's best performance on pavement was a ninth place finish. In his one and only appearance of the season at SSP he managed to finish fourth on May 30th. He looks to win the $300.00 at the end of the night this Saturday at the Iron Man 100. Keep an eye out for the Kenton Station/Refuge Custom Painting/Innovative Control Solutions/Potato Warehouse/Cole's Automotive Recycling #17 Camaro.
“I'm just hoping to have a car that is hooked up for one-hundred laps,” he would continue.
Bert recently picked up a full-time sponsor with his pavement team, Innovative Control Solutions, that will support his tire program for the rest of the year. With moving to Idaho it will make it very difficult for Pegg to come back later in the season although he hopes to make it out at least one more time perhaps in late July.
“I want to come back here and race with all my buddies at least one more time but I'm not quite sure yet,” said Bert, “all of the people out at Banks have really helped me through the years to get fast and competitive because I was learning to work on the car myself and with help from the Refuge crew and phone calls to my brother"
