Banks, Oregon- For the fourth time in 2015 Sunset Speedway Park will be hosting racing action. This Saturday May 9th at the “Banks Bullring” it will be Bud Light Lime-A-Rita Ladies Night. All ladies will get into the races for ONLY $5.00. So fellas if you're looking for a place to take your favorite girl for something exciting as well as breathtaking racing look no further than SSP. Classes in competition include the Budweiser IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, Pure Stocks, Dwarf Cars, and 4-Bee's.
After two races there have been two different winners in Budweiser IMCA Modified competition. Collen Winebarger and Mark Carrell have managed to take care of business in the first two events so far. Will it be three for three after this weekend? Craig Cassell has two straight second place finishes already. With $650.00 to win the feature there is sure going to be a lot of drivers looking to take home the prize money.
The IMCA Sport Mods have been in action just once this year. Michael Melton was the feature winner on April 25th. This class is the future for the Budweiser IMCA Modifieds with these drivers cutting their teeth before they make the jump to the “A-Mods”.
The Pure Stocks have yet to see a repeat winner this season. Ken Schave, John Henry, and Trevor LaBarge have all had success this season. But drivers like Marcie Treat, Terry Houck, Scott Hoodenpyle, and more have shown a lot of speed this season.
In just one race for the Dwarf Cars this season Guy Tow Jr. was the winner. But don't count out defending champion Ryan Martinez as he looks to score his first SSP win of he season this Saturday. The Dwarf Cars are always a treat to watch at Sunset Speedway Park due to the size of the cars. Expect to see three-wide racing action all night long from the Dwarfs.
In the 4-Bee's the question about this week is who will beat Chris Batalgia? Batalgia is off to a great start winning three races in three events. Not only is he winning races, he's doing so in dominating fashion. The Owen brothers, Damion and Nathan both of which are rookies, aren't doing too bad themselves and may have a shot. But don't count out the likes of Bob Farree or Mike Mastrangelo.
Pit Gates will open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates open at 4:00, and racing starts at 6:30. Tickets for this event are Adults $13.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-18) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE and a family pass will be offered for two Adults and up to four Youths for just $35.00.
