Banks, Oregon- This Saturday April 25th Sunset Speedway Park will be hosting the first race of the season for the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series. Among the drivers that will be in attendance is Kristi Somers of Woodland, Washington. Somers will once again be racing the Doug King owned Somers Racing Engines/James Gang Pizza/Eric's Frame Repair #18 MasterSbilt entry. Last Saturday she was in action at SSP for the Season Opener in the Budweiser IMCA Modified ranks and finished fourteenth in her Mod debut.
“Technically my race season start last weekend in the Modified and that was a blast,” said Somers, “I'm really looking forward to racing the Late Model and doing better this year.”
Last season she ended the season tenth in series points and posted one top five finish. That top five came in her last start at the “Banks Bullring” on August 23rd.
She plans to run all of the NELMS races at Banks and running the IMCA Modified several times. She will try and make some other races with the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series outside of Banks.
“At this point we for sure are going to make all of the Banks Late Model races and possibly some others and might even make it to Yakima like last year.”
