Banks, Oregon- John Gamell is anxiously awaiting the night of Saturday April 25th. Why you may ask? It's the date for the 2015 Northwest Extreme Late Model Series Season Opener at Sunset Speedway Park in Banks. Gamell, of Brush Prairie, Washington, enters his third year as a driver and will chauffeur the Food Express Inc./Qwikline Industrial Products #88 MasterSbilt machine.
“It'll be my third year in a Late Model and I've learned the last couple of years what not to do so I'm really excited for this year,” commented Gamell.
Sunset Speedway Park is a track John has had some success at including last year. On June 21st he would lead much of the feature before being overtaken and eventually would finish a respectable third. It is his career best finish to date.
“I ran that whole race up front until Greg (Walters) and Brad (Martin) got around me but I finished third and that was my biggest achievement last year. To me it felt like a win.”
John Gamell will be racing full time with the NELMS series. In the last two seasons he's finished sixth in points and has had two top five finishes. His goal this year is to either win a feature or finish on the podium. And as far as his Ghost Rider theme?
“I'm going to keep the theme going and it's going to look really cool. I have to thank everyone at FinishLine Graphics.”
Pit Gates will open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates open at 4:00, and racing starts at 6:30. Tickets for this event are Adults $13.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-18) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE and a family pass will be offered for two Adults and up to four Youths for just $35.00.
