Banks, Oregon- Saturday August 23rd is going to be a must see event at Sunset Speedway Park. Not only will a full card of racing be on tap at the ¼-mile clay oval but a chance to give thanks to all the drivers and crews that work so hard keeping all of their teams functioning week in week out. A meet and greet session similar to the extremely popular Fan Appreciation Night is also planned.
This first ever Drivers Appreciation Night will consist of the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, Northwest Extreme Modifieds, 4-Bee’s, Dwarf Cars, and Womens division all on hand for competition. The Pure Stock and the Womens division will be combined and for all classes it will be time trials and main events only. This is going to be a fun event so don’t miss it.
When the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series has visited SSP there is one thing that remains the same. Greg Walters has won all six series appearances in 2014. Will his perfect record stay intact after this weekend?
Doug Lockwood still has the most IMCA Modified victories in the current campaign with three trips to the winner’s circle. Craig Cassell is the only other multi-feature winner while Rob Ireland, Matt Jenner, Mark Carrell, Bubba Foster, and Travis Peery have recorded one win.
In Street Stock competition John Ireland has tallied three victories while Brian Roden, Freya Smith, and Marc Farrar each have won twice. Roger Hubbard, Tony Catalano, and Earl Claypool Jr. have all won once.
Oscar Luckman still has managed to have the most successful season with his three wins this year in the Northwest Extreme Modifieds. Brandon Potter and Randy O’Conner each have one triumph. In the Pure Stocks both Ken Schave and Trevor LaBarge are level at three wins apiece so far in the current season.
The Dwarf Cars have witnessed Ryan Martinez and Guy Tow Jr. win twice at SSP. Christopher McCleary and Cory Esteban have one win each so far at the “Banks Bullring”. John Gartner and Travis Koch both lead the 4-Bee’s ranks on the win list with each of them winning four times while Bo Jones and Stan Asanovic have won once. Last but not least the Womens division has had three different winners in three races with Gabrielle Hollinger, Marcie Treat, and Cori Vandercoevering all 2014 winners.
Pit Gates will open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates open at 3:30, and racing starts at 6:00.
