Brian Roden And Travis Koch Earn SSP Victories On Sunday July 20th
By Ben Deatherage
The Street Stocks and 4-Bee’s were on hand as support classes at Sunset Speedway Park on Sunday July 20th. A decent car count would be on tap for both divisions as they would negotiate the “Banks Bullring”.
In the Street Stock feature Brian Roden of West Linn would seize the initial race lead. Roden, who had led for the much of the main event the night before but ended up second, would receive a little bit of pressure from Forest Grove’s Tony Catalano in the early goings. But as the race went caution free he would develop a sizeable lead and mastered lap traffic. Roden would finish up front to put his JNR Construction/Molecular Motion Inc./Dockweiler Stainless Steel Tube Systems #14 Camaro in victory lane for the second time in 2014.
Tony Catalano would cross the line in the DVC Machine/Meyers Auto Body #19 Monte Carlo in second while third was the Ireland & Ireland at Law/Privateer Racing/Applebee Aviation #88 Monte Carlo of Banks native John Ireland. The balance of the top five would consist of the Trans Medic/Perfection Automotive/Walters Racing/Warpaint Motorsports Graphics #87 Cutless of Ron Jermann from Hillsboro in fourth and finishing fifth would be Freya Smith of McMinnville in her Sweere's Auto Body/Sweere's Trucking/Tire Factory of McMinnville #37 Camaro.
Taking care of business and dominating the entire 4-Bee main event would be Travis Koch of Vancouver, Washington. Koch, in the North’s Plumbing/Dusty’s Automotive/Mac Tools/Dan’s Cylinder Heads #21 Dodge Neon, had no issues as he got his machine out in front on the first lap. For Koch it would be his third win of the current campaign.
Jeremy Hughes in the Hughes Racing #10 would be the runner-up and in third was the Ram Light Truck Salvage/Napa Auto Parts/Ace Car Detailing/J&T Racing #48 Mitsubishi Eclipse of Portland’s John Gartner. In fourth was the Mark's Towing and Transport #82 Dodge Neon while Jake Henry from North Plains in his Henry Racing/Joe’s Autobody and Paint/Social Lies Pub and Grill #77 Toyota Celica was fifth.
