Banks, Oregon- Sunset Speedway Park will be a busy place come Saturday June 21st for Fan Appreciation Night. Classes in action will include the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series, Northwest Extreme Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, Northwest Extreme Modifieds, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, Dwarf Cars, Womens, and 4-Bees. Due to so many events happening and so many classes running there will be no heat races ran.
As always we will open up the track for fans to get up close and personal with their favorite drivers to get autographs, hero cards, pictures, etc. but there will be even more offered as the night goes along. SSP will also have Fast Time Race Simulators on hand to give you the chance to race a Sprint Car, balloon artists, face painters, vendor booths, giveaways and more including the musical group The Garrisons.
The Northwest Extreme Late Model Series will visit the “Banks Bullring” for the second time this year. Greg Walters was the winner in the lone visit to SSP so far.
The IMCA Modifieds have yet to see a repeat winner in 2014 with Bubba Foster, Rob Ireland, Matt Jenner, and Doug Lockwood have been the victors in the current campaign. In Northwest Extreme Modified action Oscar Luckman has scored two wins while last week Brandon Potter managed to break his streak.
Street Stocks have been really competitive this year with John Ireland winning twice but Brian Roden and Earl Claypool Jr. each achieving one victory a piece. The complete opposite has happened in the Pure Stocks as Trevor LaBarge has won both main events the class has competed in.
The Dwarf Cars compete in a two track series between Sunset and Cottage Grove. Ryan Martinez has won has three wins between the two tracks including the last time he was at SSP and Corey Esteban is the only other main event winner. The Women’s division has been in action only once and Gabrielle Hollinger was the winner.
The 4-Bee’s would witness their first repeat winner last week with John Gartner capturing the feature. Drivers who have graced victory lane just once include Stan Asanovic, Bo Jones, and Travis Koch.
Pit Gates will open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates open at 3:30, and racing starts at 6:00. Tickets for the event are Adults $12.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE and a Family Pass will be offered for two Adults and up to four Youths for just $35.00.
