Banks, Oregon- The last few years has seen some incredible action in the 4-Bees at Sunset Speedway Park. The past two seasons have seen two different champions and last year seen some new faces in victory lane. In 2014 it looks like the title will be up for grabs as 2011 and 2013 4-Bee champion Mike Mastrangelo will be racing a limited schedule in the division. This should make for some interesting racing all year long as the classification is scheduled for fourteen races in 2014.
“It’s a class that had a lot of good racing last year,” said Sunset Speedway Park Race Director Charlie Weaver, “it sounds like we are going to have some new cars out and are expected full fields every night they race.”
Last season seen Mike Mastrangelo earn his second career title after finishing runner-up in 2012. There were six different winners in thirteen events in the 4-Bees with Mike Mastrangelo, Jason Blythe, and John Oyler with the most wins as all three drivers managed to win three events each. Travis Koch won two features in his rookie debut while Gary Meyer and Stan Asanovic were one-time winners in 2013.
2012 seen Johnny Adams pick up the 4-Bee title as managed to finish ahead of Mike Mastrangelo in the final point standings. That year there were only nine races for the division and only four different winners were produced. Adams led the win column as he visited victory lane six times over Mastrangelo’s two wins while Kim Oyler and Jason Blythe won just one race each.
2011, as mentioned above, was when Mike Mastrangelo would obtain his first career SSP title. Mastrangelo simply dominated the division winning eight of the fifteen races and when it was all said and done nearly won the championship by five-hundred points. Four other winners managed to join him on the win column that season. Those drivers were Jeff Brookshire, John Oyler, Stan Asanovic, and Johnny Adams.
Sunset Speedway Park will be hosting at test and tune practice event this Saturday April 12th. The practice is slated to get underway around 2:00 PM and will last until dusk. Pit Passes are $25.00 and folks wanting to watch the practice from the main grandstands get in for FREE. For the latest information regarding SSP visit www.sunsetspeedwaypark.com.
