Banks, Oregon- 2013 seen the debut season of the Northwest Extreme Modifieds at Sunset Speedway Park. In that year the class was dominated by Rick Graham who would win seven of the eight races that would be completed. Rob Ireland, driving for car owner Pat Lechner, was the only other feature winner that season. 2014 looks like there will be an even better year as more and more interest develops for the class.
“I think they will have a good second year,” commented Sunset Speedway Park Race Director Charlie Weaver, “it sounds like there will be some new cars coming out. It’s had some good racing and a great way to get started in the Mods before moving up to IMCA level.”
There is no doubt that the future stars of the IMCA Modifieds will be seen in the class. In 2014 the title will be wide open as last year’s champion Rick Graham will not be racing in the class full-time. This season there are five scheduled events for the division.
Sunset Speedway Park enters the 2014 season with an action packed schedule that you do not want to miss out on. The first event of the season is a test and tune play day scheduled to take place on Saturday April 5th while the first race of the year will be held on the 19th.
