Sunset Speedway Park Returns To Racing Saturday Night

Banks, Oregon- Sunset Speedway Park will return to racing this Saturday June 29th. The event will be the final race of the month of June at the Banks bullring. Classes that will be in action will include the Northwest Extreme Sprints, Northwest Extreme Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bees, and the WRS Late Model Lites.
The Northwest Extreme Sprints return to SSP Saturday for their fifth race of the year. Mitch Hoffses has won three out of four so far while earning the latest victory was Jake Gilman. The same kind of domination can be said for the Northwest Extreme Modifieds. Rick Graham has won five out of six events for the brand new class with Rob Ireland the only other winner with a single triumph.
Brian Roden and defending champion Craig Loomis now find themselves tied for most wins in the 2013 Street Stock campaign. Drivers with just one win include Marc Farrar and John Ireland. Mike Mastrangelo still leads the win column for the 4-Bee division, with three victories but Jason Blythe now has two wins. John Oyler is the only 4-Bee driver with a single trip to victory lane so far. The WRS Late Model Lites will make their first appearance at Sunset on Saturday. These machines utilize four-cylinder engines and always put on an entertaining show.
For Saturday’s action the front gates open up at 3:30 PM with racing scheduled to start at 6:00 PM. Admission is Adults $13.00, Seniors/Military $10.00, Children (6-12) $5.00, Children (5 and Under) FREE, and Family Pack (Two Adults and Two Children) $30.00.
The Sunset Speedway Park is located just west of the Portland metro area in Banks on the Sunset Highway. From April until October you can get your racing fix at this facility which competes weekly primarily on Saturday nights. Regular classes in action include the NW Extreme Winged Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bee’s, NW Extreme Modifieds, and the Womens division.
