Sunset Speedway Park Ready For Saturday Night

Banks, Oregon- With one race in the books Sunset Speedway Park is gearing up for the second race of the season on Saturday April 27th. The Northwest Extreme Late Model Series will kick off their 2013 season at the Banks bullring which is sure to produce some great racing. Also on the card are IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, PHRA Dwarfs, and the Womens divisions.
Last week Kenny Miller had a great battle with Jeremy Martin which ended with Miller in victory lane picking up from where he left off last year. Craig Loomis took care of business in the Street Stock division winning the feature and looking for his third straight championship in the division.
Last year the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series visited SSP three times and produced three different winners. Terry Ferrando, Jerry Schram, and Greg Walters were all victors in Late Model action each one of them a nail biter. Walters has the most series wins at Banks with a total of six which he has accumulated since 2010.
In 2012 the PHRA Dwarf Cars visited Sunset Speedway Park four times with two different winners. Ronnie Gilmore Jr. earned three wins to Eric Bergquist’s one. And last year in the Womens division Andrea Tardio won the first race of the season.
For Saturday’s action the front gates open up at 3:30 with racing scheduled to start at 6:00. Admission is Adults $13.00, Seniors/Military $10.00, Children (6-12) $5.00, Children (5 and Under) FREE, and Family Pack (Two Adults and Two Children) $30.00.
The Sunset Speedway Park is located just west of the Portland metro area in Banks on the Sunset Highway. From April until October you can get your racing fix at this facility which competes weekly primarily on Saturday nights. Regular classes in action include the NW Extreme Winged Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bee’s, NW Extreme Modifieds, and the Womens division.
