SSP Looks To Practice Saturday

Banks, Oregon- This Saturday April 13th hopes to mark the first time that cars will be run at Sunset Speedway Park in 2013. The day will be a Test and Tune play date allowing for cars to knock off the cobwebs and get some laps under their belts before racing begins. General Admission is free to all spectators wishing to sit in the grandstands and watch practice which is expected to last from 2:00 PM until Dusk weather permitting.
“There are a lot of new drivers that have moved around to different classes this year,” commented longtime track announcer Charlie Weaver, “so for these guys they are really anticipating this practice date. They definitely would rather work the bugs out at play day versus the first race of the season.”
The following Saturday on April 20th hopes to be the first race of the new season. Classes that will be action on that night will consist of the NW Extreme Winged Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and 4-Bee’s. The 2013 season is expected to a exciting one with the introduction of the spec Northwest Extreme Modified classification, IMCA sanctioning the regular Modified division, and the debut of the 300 Lap Iron Man Enduro Series. The upcoming year will have right around thirty dates of action which is guaranteed to thrill spectators.
The Sunset Speedway Park is located just west of the Portland metro area in Banks on the Sunset Highway. From April until October you can get your racing fix at this facility which competes weekly primarily on Saturday nights. Regular classes in action include the NW Extreme Winged Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bee’s, NW Extreme Modifieds, and the Womens division.
